There are many organizations, both nationally and in Wisconsin, that provide support to adoptive families. For a sample listing, feel free to refer to some of the following pages:
- The website Orphan Doctor has great information about medical issues for internationally adopted children.
- Dr. Dana Johnson, at The International Adoption Clinic, is a specialist in health concerns of adopted children and will do evaluation of foreign medical reports. Phone: 612-626-2928.
- Some other Wisconsin resources for counselors and therapists are listed on our Medical Resources page.
- The Mayan Traditions website sells fair trade crafts and products made by people in Guatemala. A portion of their proceeds is donated to orphanages and other charities in Guatemala.
- Places International provides language classes (including Spanish and Chinese) for adoptive parents. Individual or group lessons are available. Check out their website or call (608) 833-7443 for more information.
