All-Day Workshops
While most of Children and Families First's classes are offered as 3-hour seminars, we also offer some longer, all-day sessions that cover the same curricula. Currently the all-day seminars include:

Preparing to Bring Your Child Home


The topics covered in this session focus on understanding the forces that shape who your child is before they come home, and on managing the initial adjustment period. This 7.5-hour session covers the same materials as these three seminars:

  1. Nature & Nurture
  2. Positive Parenting
  3. Promoting Attachment
Beyond the Adoption Day

In this session, we look ahead to issues that adoptive parents face after their child is home. This 7.5-hour session covers the same materials as these seminars:

  1. Grief and Loss in Adoptive Families
  2. Transracial Parenting
  3. Educational Issues
We usually offer these all-day seminars as part of a two-day workshop, either on a Friday/Saturday, or on two Saturdays a few weeks apart. Priority will be given to participants who register for both sessions, but if space is available then families can register for a single day.
